October Event: BlogWorld 2010

BlogWorld sounds pretty huge and awesome, and we're having fun looking at it through the lens of social media.

Here are some things I know now, from looking at a summary of day 1:

• The drawn cartoon is a fantastic way to summarize a keynote (and, by the way: write great content, darn it!)
• The price of the most-reshared link and the most-used hashtag? An ipad giveaway, even on a day when there were some 17,000 messages in the conference stream. Marketing gold, those ipads.
  
• This conference is in Las Vegas, and people let their hair down a bit after hours for krunk-themed and poolside parties. That is, except Sarah Palin, who attracted attention for her use of the "bumpit" (warning: obnoxious web site). I was not previously aware of this hair modification technology.
• There's some activism at BlogWorld, exemplified by this fine blog post about water conservation efforts (or lack thereof).
